What’s the Difference Between a Title Search and an Abstract of Title?


A Title Search is a standard step in most real estate transactions. An Abstract of Title , on the other hand, is a comprehensive, historical report of all recorded activity on a property. It may go back to the original land grant or deed, and can include information on mineral rights, easements, and long-term encumbrances. Abstracts are especially useful for legal matters, large commercial developments, or anyone who needs a full picture of a property’s history.
